This 45 page book, is part of a series on Classic designs, others in the series are on Kettles, cars, chairs and watches! The information presented is clear and accurate but most if not all is easily available elsewhere.

This book starts off with a brief history of Zippo, which includes some early original advertising and artwork, this is followed, surprisingly, by sections covering table lighters and other Zippo items. It then moves on to a section on Automobile history, again with some excellent illustrations, before moving into the main context of the book. As the title implies, the book specialises in automotive advertising on Zippo lighters and the author has managed to cram over 650 illustrations into the book. As well as the more common lighter photographs, this book also includes a large amount of the original artwork used to create the designs on the lighters as well as details of how the images were applied. Even if you don't actually collect automotive Zippo's, the book is still a useful reference source.

Written in Japanese and English, this is the first in a series of Collectors Guides published by World Mook in Japan. This particular volume starts earlier than most with a chapter on Bradford before Zippo! It then moves on to a brief history of Zippo followed by a chapter devoted to Kendall Oil. Two excellent aspects of this volume are the pull out date chart and the section on dating Zippo packaging. 256 pages

Volume 3 is split into 7 main chapters, Experimental, Advertising, Broken & Repaired, Masterpieces, History, Lighters and New Concepts. For the collector, the History section is by far the most useful, giving year by year photographs of Lighters, hinges, boxes and instruction manuals. There are also drawings of both the bottom stamp and the insert. To back this up the history section covers over 150 pages of photographs of lighters (with up to 36 photo's per page!) covering 1932 to 1993. I personally think that this particular section would have benefited from more descriptive text on the lighters concerned. Pages 360
